Energize Bedford is the pilot phase of Energize Northern Westchester, a community home energy savings program that will drastically increase the home comfort and energy cost savings of homeowners in New York’s Westchester County while reducing emissions and creating green jobs.
The program is a U.S. Department of Energy-backed BetterBuildings program, funded through the agency’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. The campaign benefited from strong community leadership and alliances with Bedford 2020 and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, or NYSERDA. After a successful pilot effort, the program will roll out in 13 other communities in the Northern Westchester Energy Action Consortium (www.NWEAC.org).
Martha Stewart, a resident of Bedford, NY, attended the Energize Bedford Launch event, donning her own “53%” sticker. Visit our Facebook page to see more photos.
The program encourages homeowners to have home energy assessments and follow through with recommended Home Performance with ENERGY STAR comprehensive upgrades. SmartPower is providing marketing and messaging support for the program.
